Versatility and performance.
The PHE is a horizontally opposed, two-throw, reciprocating compressor designed for long-term, process gas service. Designed to API-618 specifications, the 7-inch stroke PHE has the capacity to handle rod loads (MACCRL) of 10,200 lbs. (45 kN) and gas loads (MACGL) of 11,500 lbs. (51 kN). It can handle a variety of drivers with either direct or V-belt connections and can be fitted with either lubricated or non-lubricated cylinders ranging from 1.625 to 19 inches (41 to 483 mm) in bore diameter. Like all of D-R's reciprocating process compressors, the PHE is engineered to our high standards, ensuring long-lasting reliability. It offers a versatile alternative to larger, more costly compressors, providing an economic solution for requirements that demand full-time performance in lower volume service.
More Compressor for the money
More in terms of cfm or psig per hp-hr, because the PHE is unsurpassed in compression efficiency. And more in extra-values that pay off before and after the unit is installed. Because it's backed by worldwide experience in process application - worldwide service - and worldwide parts availability.
API 618 Design
The PHE is designed to meet the exacting requirements of API 618 including a pressurized frame lubrication oil system and other key provisions as a standard. Additional API 618 features are available.
Pressurized Oil to All Bearing Surfaces
All running gear components are pressure lubricated through internal rifle drilled passages. The complete system is protected by an oil pressure shutdown switch, sensing oil pressure at the farthest point from the pump. An automotive cartridge type oil filter is provided for quick charge.
Dresser-Rand compressors include:
- Two throw balanced opposed unit capable of one to five stages.
- Lubricated and non lube applications
- Cast iron, nodular iron, and steel cylinders.
- Alloy steel piston rods surface hardened or tungsten carbide coated in house.
- API 618 design and construction.
- Dresser-Rand capacity control and control systems.
- Dresser-Rand acoustical dampener and piping.
- Lubrication and cooling console systems.

Notes:
Length = average distance along axis running perpendicular to crankshaft from outer head to outer head with standard cylinders and API Type B distance piece.
Piston Removal = average distance required to remove piston and rod with standard cylinders and API Type B distance piece.
Width = average distance along axis running from drive-end of crankshaft to oil pump.
Height = average distance from top of foundation/skid to top of frame.
